Mother's Day

My Mom does the same thing. Aren’t all Moms alike? …

Last Sunday was Mother’s Day. I actually began my preparations weeks before when I helped my Mom get a Wii. I knew she wanted one and she also would have put off getting one for quite some time if I didn’t give her a push. So I got her up on Sunday morning and made sure we were at Best Buy early enough that there would be a Wii under the TV that evening. I went in with a grocery list of accessories to get for it, so that she did not have to worry about being bored with it or replacing batteries all the time or anything else that I could think of that might upset her. My Mom really likes the Wii, especially the bowling. I advanced her some credit to buy the Nerf sports set that turns your Wii-mote into a golf club, tennis racket or baseball bat. She seems to like it so far and if that continues to hold true, I’ll get her a second set for two player action. I’m also going to split the Wii Fit with her when it comes out this week. I’m looking to leave work early on Wednesday to pick one up along with a battery pack and protector. If it helps either one of us towards our weight loss goals, then it will be more than worth it.

In now Wii-related Mother’s day news, I got my Mom a humorous card and told her I would take her to dinner at Outback. Dad decided to shift the spotlight to himself by going to the ER the Friday before and then being in the hospital for the rest of the weekend. I also got my Mom a stereo Bluetooth headset. She bought an over-the-ear headset like the one I had and she kept complaining she had trouble hearing people and keeping it in place. The stereo headset should help with both those problems. Don’t tell, but I got my Dad one for Father’s Day also.

I just want to thank my Mom and my Aunt Irene (who will be joining us for Mother’s Day dinner) for all their hard work. I don’t know how I would have gotten through my surgery/recovery and everything going on with my Dad without them (and lots of other wonderful people too). So on behalf of myself and my two Moms, Happy Mother’s Day.
