U - G - L - Y. You ain't got no alibi. You ugly ....
If there was an award for ugly wins in college basketball, UK would have it all sewn up by now. After looking like a JV middle school team against Vanderbilt in Nashville, the CATS went down to the Bayou to take on LSU. It was not a crushing victory, but they did manage another ugly win. Free throws down the stretch pulled Kentucky's fat out of the fire as LSU kept it close. Now UK will be bringing it on home with 3 straight games at Rupp Arena. The first game is against Georgia Tuesday night on ESPN. Georgia is 3 - 7 in the SEC which is currently last in the Eastern division. The next game is Saturday afternoon on CBS against Arkansas. They are 6 - 4 in the SEC making them 2nd in the Western division. The last game of the month comes against Ole Miss on Wednesday Feb. 27th. Ole Miss is 3 - 7 in the conference which ties them for third place in the Western division. If Kentucky can win their remaining home games (the last being against Florida for senior night) and split the remaining road games, the CATS would be 12 - 4 in the SEC and 18 - 11 overall. They will more than likely lose 1 more game leaving them 11 - 5 in the SEC and 17 - 12 overall. Neither one is an amazing resume for the NCAA tournament, so I still think a good showing during the SEC tournament will be necessary for a decent seed in the Big Dance.
