Break in the Action

Its been a long time. I shouldn't a left you ...

A month has passed. Fantasy football season is over. The holidays are over. The year is over. All good things must come to an end. That also makes this a time for new beginnings.

I have always struggled with my weight and have recently decided to make a change for the better. So I quit the gym. It may sound absolutely stupid, but there is a method to my madness. I took the money that I would have spent on this year's gym membership and used it to purchase an exercise bike and a stepper for the house. I am currently engaged in an aggressive exercise program as well as tweaking my diet. I quickly was able to work up to 30 min sessions on the bike and currently work 2 of those sessions a day (most days). I recently was able to cross the 10 mile barrier in one 30 min session for an average of over 20 mph. Since my weakness is sustaining the program long-term, I have set several goals that will take some time to accomplish.

1. Hit a total of 100 miles in a week (I can do 17 miles or more a day in 2 sessions)
2. Hit 215 miles in 2 weeks
3. Hit 450 miles in 4 weeks
4. Get down to 250 lbs by the end of the year

I will probably start increasing the time of my evening workout by 10% or more starting in February. I will also begin to add the stepper in as an added bonus workout. I'll keep you updated on my progress.
