Bringing Wheelhouse Back
Work, Smirk
Everybody loves a half day. I do more than most. Friday started with me packing my bag for Atlanta which made me a few minutes late for work. I had already requested a half day at work, so I knew I would be leaving before noon anyway. I got to my desk and immediately knocked out a few chores that had to be done by Monday. I also checked some fantasy football information in hopes of getting the best team on the field for this weekend. My colleagues went to lunch around 11:30. I cleared up a few paperwork issues before changing into some shorts and heading for the car. I was on the highway by noon.
On the Road Again
I knew I was going to get squirrelled up by downtown Atlanta traffic during rush hour, so I put the hammer down. There were no issues heading down the highway. I stopped at exit 141 in Tennessee to fill up with gas and get some snacks and drinks. I then got back on the road and got things rolling back towards the ATL. I still didn't have any problems with traffic until about 5:20. I was already in the Northern Atlanta area when traffic just jammed up. It wasn't bad. It took about 15 or 20 minutes to go 5 miles though. After I merged onto I20, it was smooth sailing all the way.
Friday Night Lights
When I got to Casa del Slaton, there was some rock and roll mischief going on courtesy of Guitar Hero (I, II, III and the 80s Edition). I haven't played in a while, so I decided not to pick up an axe (at least until Saturday). Will and NUC D, on the other hand, did not mind rocking out hard. Jon and Phil also joined in the fun with a little less experience on their side. Kristin was busy working on a wonderful lasagna and once it was in the oven, everyone headed out to the back patio to drink and play some games. Melissa showed up a little later on and joined in on Catch Phrase. We took a break for dinner, but the drinking and games continued on into the wee hours of the morning. I called it quits around 1am and claimed my spot on the couch. Everything shut down around 3, from what I understand.
Old Home Saturday
Saturday morning started with a scrumptious breakfast, once again prepared by Kristin. There were pancakes, biscuits, bacon and eggs just like Mom used to make. So delicious. Will and Kristin were headed to an office party thrown by Will's boss and Jon and Phil were headed back to Lexington. That left me home alone during the afternoon. It also, coincidentally, freed me up to listen to the UK football game via the internet. I napped on and off as the Cats made their way to victory. When Will and Kristin got back, we rang up NUC D and headed out to shoot some pool. I would love to say that Will and I dominated while shouting, 'Rack em bitches.' alot. But truth be told, Dave and Kristin probably handled us as much if not more than we handled them. Several of the games were actually ended by mistakes made by the losing team such as scratching on the 8-ball (my bad). We switched things up and played some Spades. I was partnered with Dave and we absolutely dominated the first game. We gave the old married couple a couple of chances to stay in the game and keep the fans excited, but the outcome was never in doubt. The second game was slightly different. Dave and I got behind, but we did position ourselves to claim victory on a winner take all final hand. Mistakes were made and lessons were learned, but when the smoke cleared Dave and I stood victorious. It was after 1am at that point, so we dropped Dave off and headed home. With a long drive awaiting me on Saturday, I turned in shortly after making it back to the house.
Stizzle at it again.
We make a formidable team.
Stizzle showing me how to take the self photo.
