Fantasy football
Its that time of year when I throw a bunch of money down the drain in hopes of getting my name on a damn trophy. Its not looking good this year either. In years past, I've been the laughing stock of the TRU leagues because my players don't score points for me. This year is very different, but somehow the same. I am currently the 2nd highest scoring team in the league, but I am 2 and 5 after 7 glorious weeks of fun and excitement. I got beat in back to back weeks by the last place teams in the league. Except for weeks 1 and 7, it didn't matter what I scored the other team would score 2 to 8 points more than me. Very frustrating. It looks like I took some of that frustration out on JD this week. I doubled down with the Pats this week (Brady and Welker) and the Colts (Wayne and Vinatieri). All 4 players came through for me, plus I picked up Kenny Watson who had a career game replacing Rudi Johnson. All in all, I ended up with almost 150 points and blew out the rest of the league (no one else had over 100) garnering the much coveted Heineken Premium Player of the Week award. I'm still in 7th place, but my point total is leverage if I can some wins over the next several weeks. I am also leading the league in passing yards, thanks to the wonderkind Tom Brady. He's pretty much blowing up for 300 plus every week and doing so in 3 quarters as of late. Keep up the good work GQ (or Cowboy Tom as his teammates have taken to calling him). Dark Lords rule!
In other fantasy news, I am getting much of the same treatment in the Marikkas league. I've had some decent games, but only one really high scoring affair. I'm 3 and 4 in that league with at least 2 losses by single digits. This past week I played Evil Doug Jr. It was touch and go for a moment, but Adrian Peterson didn't come in and blow me off the map. That led to a showdown on Monday night with me having the 10 point lead. His defensive player scored the same as Maurice Jones-Drew, so I take the win. There was a little conflict over my lineup. Dougie claims he did not get an email I sent putting in Boldin for Bowe. Boldin ended with 17 fantasy points versus 15 for Bowe, so its a moot point. Nation of Domination takes the win.
