Car versus Median

Median wins again.
Some of you may know this story, but most of you don’t know the details, so here goes:
Front
Last Tuesday after a successful start to the volleyball season, I hung out at Marikka’s for a while talking to Doug Jr. Now most of you are thinking, ‘Oh no, Brett’s drunk again.’ Nothing could be further from the truth. I ordered a drink at 10:30pm and followed that with a glass of water before leaving the bar at a little past 1am. I was cruising down Alexandria Drive (something I’ve done hundreds of times), when I realized I shouldn’t be adjusting my stereo while taking a turn at 40 mph. I turned the wheel sharply hoping to miss the median, but it moved on me and I clipped it with the front driver’s side tire. The tire blew, the rim bent, my air bags deployed and my windshield cracked all within a matter of seconds. I got a small burn on my left forearm and the inside of the car reeked from the air bags. I limped my car to the Kroger’s parking lot to access the damage. I was pleased to see that only one tire was damaged, even though I knew the airbags would be expensive. So I grabbed my books out of the car and started walking home. I called Will on the way home to pass the time. We made plans for the end of the month before I revealed the horror show that was my car. I finished walking the 5.5 miles to the house and stewed for a little while before going to bed. I got up the next morning and drove back to change the tire. The car was drivable, so I went on to school. Friday morning we took the car to the insurance company and they put $2650 in damages down on paper minus a $500 deductible for a total of $2150 the insurance company is willing to pay. I’ve already gotten the windshield fixed, so now I have to figure out a way to fix the rest of the damage for under $2000.

Why the Hell didn't you call me? If you were on Alexandria and walked home, you passed about a quarter mile from my place.
