Weekend
Friday nights are spent dedicated to Toyota, so I don’t really count that as part of my weekend. Saturday was spent doing laundry, cleaning house and trying to relax after the last few months of hell. I also watched the Lady Cats take another beating from LSU in the SEC tournament. That was a bit of a downer for the evening, but then I caught the beginning of the Duke – UNC game. I would like to point out that I am in agreement with Marc Sherman here. ESPN’s Full Circle coverage of the game was more than a little ridiculous. A Cameron Crazies cam, above the rim cam and high-def coverage of the game on ESPN, the deuce and ESPNU was way too much. I can’t believe they covered it like it was bigger than the championship game. So with six seniors stacked up next to Coach K, the Dookies dropped one to arch-rival UNC. I caught the final minutes of the game at the Blue Moon. It was great when the DJ announced Duke’s defeat. As for the rest of the evening, it went pretty well. Brandon, Savannah, Big Jon, Amber and Teran were at the Blue Moon holding it down at a table right by the dance floor. It goes without saying that dancing with Teran and Amber was fun. I was a little disappointed that Jessica did not show up, but I did have the opportunity to dance with a few other ladies. There were also a few lulls in the DJ’s play list that allowed me to do some dumb dancing. It’s even more fun with a friend, but I soldiered on without my partner in crime. Just before 2am, I headed home with visions of a bye dancing in my head.
And then along came Sunday. I won’t say that Sunday was a bad day, but it DAMN sure wasn’t a good day. There was a small upside to being up early Sunday morning, however. I finally got my hands on the Xbox 360 gaming system that I’ve been looking forward to since November when it launched. Circuit City had 360’s listed in the ad, so I went down and they actually had them in stock. I picked one up before meeting Phil and heading to the game. Things looked good in the first half (at least it was respectable at halftime), but there was a dark cloud about to rain down on Rupp. The CATS came out very flat to start the second half and the Gators did not look back. Fighting against chants of “Noah’s gay!” Florida was able to mount an 11-2 run to open the half and extend their lead to 10. Kentucky never got within 8 before the Gators blew the doors off the arena and posted a 21-point lead with just over 3 minutes remaining in the game. FL took the win, the season sweep and 2nd place in the SEC East heading into the tournament giving the Gators a first round bye. It was one of many bitter pills to swallow this year for Kentucky fans, but this was especially painful for me since this is my last year as a full-time student. I plan to spend some quality time in Rupp in the future, but I have a feeling it is a little different once you give up your student status.
On a side note, Phil was the first blog winner and seemingly enjoyed his view of the game on Sunday. However, he will never be allowed to watch a live UK – FL game with me again. I was able to write off last year’s loss in the tourney to FL (seen live in Atlanta), but two big losses in a row can not be tolerated. I’m not specifically blaming you Phil, but steps must be taken to insure this type of travesty does not happen again.
I spent the rest of Sunday hanging out and playing video games which is always a fun way for me to unwind. I got a chance to break open my 360 and test out some of its many features. I am now playing Need for Speed: Most Wanted along with a few demos I was able to download from the Microsoft servers. It looks like I’ll be spending much of the next two weeks with my new investment. So if you call me and get the voicemail, I might be busy racing for pinks.

I agree, Phil should not be allowed to attend anymore important UK Basketball games. I think he should be put on probation. He should only be allowed to attend exhibitions and early season non-conference games. That way he can build up any good attendance vibes before attending an important game. Sorry Phil, but UK has to have all the good luck it can get these days.
You can play the Xbox as long as you keep the blog updated!
Why the hell didn't you tell me you had an xbox 360? We were at the game for three hours and not even a peep about it! Afraid I'll jinx the xbox games too?
