Begin at the Beginning

I was born on August 5, 1975 in Lexington, KY. I grew up in Powell County (about an hour East of Lexington). I have a brother who is two and a half years older than I am. We lived next door to my Aunt Irene and her three kids: Michael, Ray and Nikki. My brother and I always had kids to play with between our cousins and the neighborhood kids. We had a lot of fun growing up with a huge front yard and a wooded back yard. We could play all kinds of games with the amount of space we had. Not to mention we had a pretty killer basement. But first let’s talk about the family.

You’ll notice several things about the list of names above:
All the middle initials are L
My Dad and brother have the same initials: RLS
My Mom and I have the same initials: BLS
My Dad and Mom have the same number of letters in their first & middle names
My brother and I have the same number of letters in our first & middle names

My parents planned it out that way (at least regarding my brother and me). It is not the only secret they’ve kept from me for years, but more about that later. At least once a week, I’ll be looking back on days gone by and try to capture some fleeting memories. So stay tuned for more ‘before we knew him’ tidbits.
