Sports and Stuff

It's February 2006 (not that I needed to tell you that) and the HIGH of Ski Trip VI (and some little thing called SuperBowl XL) has passed. Looking to drown my sorrows in mindless TV action, you hope for the best and get......

Winter Olympics
I don't really do the Olympics (Winter or otherwise), but this has been a far worse than average situation in Torino (or whereever the hell it is). The US was ahead in gold medals, but lagging behind in total metals at last check. We only have a few gold medals for X-games events that we have mandated and are waiting for the rest of the World to catch up and beat our ASS! Long live the Curling.

NBA
The NBA may be on strike. Okay, they're not, but seriously when are they on TV. Once a week on ESPN and a couple of games on the weekend. There are few good NBA games on the TV and even less that I get to see. I believe the All Star Weekend just passed, so I may get a chance to see some good teams play in the next few weeks. Maybe not, I am hopeful to see one or two of the Super Stars that don't choke ticket buyers in the near future.

Mediocre College BBall
There are a few outstanding basketball teams in the NCAA right this moment. Most however can be beat like a drum on any occasion. I am looking forward to Tournament time, but the rest of the regular season is a wash for me except for UK vs. FL. Senior night at UK is possibly the last student ticket I will get to use for this fine establishment. I even purchased a ticket for Joe Huggins since he will be in town. I have not turned my back on the CATS and even though it will be a tough road to hoe, I think they can still do some damage in the NCAA tourney. Go Big Blue!

Hockey and stuff
Canadians rejoice at the return of hockey. Most people don't care. There is also some talk about baseball, which I'm sure will be as long and boring as last season. Golf has started back up. There is an ex-UK player that has made some noise. Can't tell you his name though. I'm sure he'll be battling it out with Tiger for the big bucks soon. I remember seeing something on ESPN about a fishing tournament. Please tell me they are going to televise that whole thing.

I guess that means I'm stuck watching Law & Orders and CSIs as well as a few other decent shows. I enjoy Veronica Mars (UPN), Smallville(WB) and Battlestar Galactica (Sci-Fi) to name a few. There's also TV on DVD now, so I can catch my favorite episodes of The A-Team and Knight Rider. What do you watch?
