In the Beginning

or something like that...

My Mom is from Clay City, KY and my Dad grew up in Madisonville, KY (roughly 230 miles apart). They met at Kentucky State University and were married in 1969 shortly after they graduated. If you do the math, my parents have been married for almost 36 years (August 8th). That's impressive, especially in this day and age. They bought a house in Lexington after graduation. A few years later in Feb of 1973 my older brother, Robin, was born. They decided to leave Lexington and build a house in Powell County. Not long after their move to the country they had another bouncing baby boy named Brett (ahem, me). So that's how I got to be a city boy raised in the country.

I wanted to start my blog out by talking about my family, because they are very important to me. My parents, my brother and his family (wife of 14 years, Norma and their son Trevor) and I all live within a half mile of each other. We do family activities together (like playing cards and board games) and we even try to have meals together on Sundays. I've learned alot from my parents and older brother over the years and they have all been very supportive of me, especially since I went back to school. So I just want to say for all the world to see, "Thank you and I love you."
